The North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking applicants for an Horticulturist in our Facility Management Division located in Raleigh, NC. This position is in the Landscaping section of the Division of Facility Management. The primary purpose of this position is to support the Facility Management Division with implementing and maintaining sustainable horticultural practices to conserve natural resources and enhance our environment. This position will select, install, and maintain native plantings. Also, this position will identify plants, plant pests, and the ideal growth conditions for plants. This position reports to the Grounds Superintendent and provides research, analysis, and recommendations in the development and implementation of horticultural projects, programs, and goals for the agency. The hours of this position will be from 6:00am to 3:00pm Monday-Friday.

The department also provides assistance and services to several advocacy programs that serve diverse segments of the state's population that have traditionally been underserved. The agency's mission directs departmental efforts to: acquire, develop and maintain properties and facilities; create and operate an efficient system to purchase and dispose of goods and services to meet the needs of government agencies; provide excellent operational services to state employees; achieve fair and equitable opportunities and representation for various segments of the population that have special needs; and to provide administrative support to independent state government agencies.

Valid NC Driver's License. Out of State Applicants must have valid Driver's License and acquire NC Driver's License within 60 days of hire.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate's degree in horticultural or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and up to three years of experience in the development and implementation of landscape plans and grounds maintenance; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
