Overview

The Senior Director, Marketing Enablement is a key leadership role responsible for driving marketing and commercial excellence across Otsuka's CNS portfolio and Business Unit. This individual will lead a team providing strategic guidance, subject matter expertise, frameworks and capabilities, and operational support at scale across the brand and indication matrix teams. This role will partner with senior CNS BU Leadership and be accountable for developing and delivering a multi-year strategic commercial capability roadmap. They will be responsible for building a new marketing competency framework, learning programs, and marketing career development paths. Additionally, this role will establish and develop marketing effectiveness capabilities that deliver improved ROI and cost savings, drive revenue growth, and simplify execution. They will own the overall approach to strategic brand planning for the CNS BU. They will also serve as the Chief of Staff (COS) to the VP, Marketing, ensuring cross-functional strategic alignment and excellence in execution.

The Senior Director will oversee a team of 2-4 that includes responsibilities across marketing excellence, commercial capability building, learning programs, brand planning, access and affordability, and marketing effectiveness.

The Senior Director must possess and leverage deep subject-matter expertise in the overall pharmaceutical commercial business model and value chain, marketing, brand planning, forecasting and budgeting, commercial operations, launch planning, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capability Building: In partnership with CNS Marketing and BU leadership, develop a 2-3 year roadmap that will build marketing engagement capabilities needed to address changing customer needs, technology shifts, and the evolving product portfolio. Responsible for aligning multi-phase projects and workstreams against key identified capabilities and delivering them in support of CNS BU objectives.
  • Marketing Excellence: Identify core marketing competencies needed for the future, develop and implement structured learning programs for all marketers and key BU personnel. Partner with HR in the development of marketing career paths.
  • Strategic Planning: Working with senior CNS BU leadership, develop consistent and integrated approach to strategic brand planning across functions, and provide the guidance, frameworks, and tools for the teams to be successful.
  • Marketing Effectiveness: Establish and refine marketing processes, tools, and frameworks to improve productivity and decision-making. Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements. Identify and manage strategic and cost-effective partnerships with external agencies and select vendors.
  • Access and Affordability Integration: Partner with Market Access and Brand Teams to ensure that access and affordability strategies are implemented and pulled through across brand HCP and consumer messaging and tactics. Implement structure and approach for maximizing pull-through opportunities and ensure effective use of fulfillment programs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a key liaison between marketing, sales, commercial operations, market access, finance, legal, compliance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless planning and execution of commercial initiatives. Oversee budget planning, tracking, and resource allocation to optimize investments across the marketing organization.
  • Team Development & Leadership: Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the Marketing Enablement team, ensuring they have clear objectives, development opportunities, and the support needed to execute their roles effectively. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Chief of Staff to VP, Marketing: Serve as a strategic thought partner to the VP, Marketing, supporting key initiatives, planning, and execution. Drive alignment across marketing leadership, ensuring clear communication, accountability, and streamlined decision-making. Prepare executive-level presentations, reports, and updates for senior leadership and internal stakeholders. Facilitate leadership meetings, track key deliverables, and ensure follow-through on strategic priorities.
Qualifications & Key Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred
  • 10-12+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare marketing, with a focus on brand marketing, operations, strategy, and/or enablement.
  • 3-5 Years of inline brand marketing experience (e.g. HCP, consumer) is required, including experience leading annual strategic brand planning.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Financial acumen including marketing investment analysis, budgeting, forecasting; familiarity and experience with brand P&L management.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate business needs and develop impactful solutions
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex large-scale enterprise initiatives, transformation projects, and/or capability build programs over a 1–2-year period
  • Operational excellence mindset, with proven experience in driving process improvements and executional efficiency
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization, managing multiple priorities and aligning cross-functional teams through a collaborative approach
  • Expertise in marketing processes, omnichannel execution, and brand planning
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives and drive results

Salary

Minimum $205,368.00 - Maximum $307,050.00, plus incentive opportunity: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting salary for candidates hired to perform the work. Other elements may be used to determine actual salary such as the candidate's job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role.
