Overview

The Director of Digital Transformation Office oversees the organization's Digital Transformation Office (DTO), establishing structures to manage multiple strategic initiatives at scale with consistent execution, driving change management, and ensuring value delivery.

The DTO Director must understand the organization's business capabilities, develop stakeholder relationships, and guide successful outcomes across multiple business units and complex programs to meet strategic goals. The role focuses on delivering value through initiatives, managing day-to-day processes, and supporting change management.

Responsibilities include establishing a digital transformation roadmap aligned with business priorities, evaluating program health, and intervening to reduce risks and ensure successful delivery. The role also involves managing cross-program dependencies, resource constraints, vendor performance, finances, reporting, and transitions from transformational to steady-state operations.

The DTO aims to staff programs appropriately, negotiate allocations, and minimize operational distractions, managing in a matrixed environment and collaborating with support teams.

Core ResponsibilitiesStrategy
  • Supports strategic planning with business and IT.
  • Collaborates with Enterprise Strategic Portfolio Management and leadership.
  • Conducts research to solve complex business and technology challenges.
  • Supports development of business cases for initiatives.
  • Assists in prioritization, scoping, budgeting, staffing, and funding of digital initiatives.
  • Supports creation and communication of the digital transformation roadmap.
Transformation
  • Establishes and manages transformation methodologies.
  • Ensures programs are properly planned and adhere to methodologies.
  • Monitors and assesses program health, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborates with Business and IT leaders to achieve stakeholder goals.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in problem solving, stakeholder management, business and digital acumen, analytical thinking, and communication.
  • Proven leadership in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Expertise in application management, strategic management, business process improvement, and financial management.
  • Knowledge of digital web and mobile technologies, platforms, and methodologies.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex ideas persuasively across all levels.
  • Broad business knowledge and industry awareness, including emerging technologies.
  • Experience with application delivery methodologies (Agile, DevOps, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management and ITIL practices.
  • Conflict resolution skills and ability to lead teams to goals.
  • Experience in staff development and multicultural environments.
Education
  • BS or BA in Computer Science or Business Administration.
  • 10-15 years of IT and business experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles managing large, cross-functional teams or projects.
  • PMI / Prince2 and ITIL Foundation certifications are preferred.
