WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Nursery Production Planner role is responsible for leading the end-to-end (E2E) planning, execution, and continuous improvement of corn crop production workflows starting from the increase nursery of Trait Integration (TI) through Generation 0 (Gen 0) seed production and the handoff of materials and data to our stakeholders. Responsible for managing the full lifecycle of crop planning from demand forecasting to scheduling to in-season execution and retrospective performance analysis. You will serve as the central point of coordination between Planning, Operations, Scientists, and Product Unit teams to ensure alignment, efficiency, and delivery of crop plan commitments across all growing locations.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning and Scheduling
  • Own the E2E workflow for crop planning and execution, ensuring seamless integration across planning, operations, and analytics.
  • Manage the in-season forecast collection and consolidation process in collaboration with Seed Planners and Forecast Managers.
  • Prepare and oversee all current-season demand planning activities aligned with the crop plan.
  • Develop crop planting schedules that optimize operational efficiency and reliability while meeting growing location capacities.
  • Design and implement planting strategies to meet crop plan commitments and production targets.
  • Provide clear direction and prioritization to operations teams based on demand signals and planning insights.
  • Act as the single point of contact for communicating crop availability to planning, scientists, breeders, and product units.
  • Monitoring and Data Analysis
  • Partner with Operations Team to drive actionable insights from in-season data and observations.
  • Analyze crop forecasts to identify deviations from the plan and proactively address exceptions.
  • Conduct retrospective analysis of production performance to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Translate data insights into actionable recommendations to refine future crop plans and execution strategies.
  • Manage the execution of allocation decisions and coordinate responses to related events.
  • Collaboration and Communication
  • Collaborate closely with the Operations teams between Field, Inventory, and Processing/Packaging to ensure effective implementation of plans.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication to ensure alignment on crop management goals and execution timelines.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous feedback across teams.

  • Proactively identify and resolve issues that arise during the crop growing cycle, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques to drive timely and effective resolutions.
  • Process Improvement and Operational Excellence
  • Lead initiatives to improve planning processes, tools, and systems within the site execution mission team.
  • Drive operational excellence by standardizing best practices and supporting regional performance goals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/MA degree or equivalent, preferably with a focus on agriculture, agronomy, horticulture, planning, or related field;
  • 5+ years of experience in Planning, Breeding, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and/or Finance;
  • Key competencies: strategic mindset, results orientation, collaboration, analytical, manages complexity, decision making, process implementation;
  • Outstanding communicator, organizer, strong integrity and influencing skills;
  • Ability to build, analyze, and summarize large data sets to support high-impact decisions;
  • Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in operations, production planning, process engineering, or supply chain management;
  • Familiarity with data science, cloud computing platforms, Git-Hub and/or AWS, and supply chain models;
  • Experience with R, Perl, and/or Python.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $94,626.40 $141,939.60. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
