Internship Summary: The PANE Program Assistant Intern will work with instructors and students of the PANE program to provide administrative support. The intern will also be required to attend training sponsored by the employer site, as well as by Bay Mills Community College, including the new employee safety series and Title IX requirements for students. The PANE Program Assistant Intern will meet academic and professional qualifications, work with discretion and confidentiality, demonstrate dedication to academic excellence and student-centered education, and will support the mission and objectives of Bay Mills Community College. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs general office duties including drafting of administrative documents such as office memoranda, meeting minutes, and correspondence.
- Coordinate cultural programming and activities with PANE staff.
- Provide ongoing technical assistance to program during actual operations.
- Ability to use a fax machine, copier and printer.
- Willing to work with various departments and personnel.
- Communicate well with others in a professional manner.
- Must have a respect for confidentiality of all information received.
- Other duties may be assigned within the scope and complexity of the position description.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The internship is OPEN TO ALL eligible students, but would benefit those from BMCC programs such as Office Administration, Computer Applications, General Studies, and Business Administration.
- This internship would be helpful in a variety of careers such as project management, educational leadership, and office assistant.
- Knowledge of office operations with a demonstrated skill in the use of modern office software, including fluency with electronic communication, equipment, and software.
- A thorough understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Word and Excel.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to solve problems, develop documents, organize events and schedules, and prepare reports from general verbal instructions or minutes of meetings without direct supervision.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all administrative personnel, faculty members, fellow employees, students, board members, and the public.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit with occasional walking and standing.
- Occasionally the employee must bend, reach above shoulder level, kneel, and push/pull.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The employee must use hands for repetitive action such as simple and/or firm grasping.
- Duties are generally performed inside and not exposed to adverse conditions.
