Job Summary: The Manager, Employee Experience is responsible for setting the strategy, supervising and providing direction for all activities concerned with the employee experience including but not limited to employee relations activities. This position serves as a subject matter expert on District policies, procedures, state and federal employment law, and fundamentals of all core areas of Human Resources. The Manager supports awareness and understanding of the JPS employee engagement vision, initiatives and cultural transformation efforts. This position stays attuned to organizational and operational changes across the District to identify potential employee relations risks and develops plans to address proactively. Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
Supports human resource and organizational initiatives/activities as a workforce culture champion while guiding leaders on how to create a positive work environment and employee experience through activities such as employee recognition, education, and coaching with a focus on employee retention. Guides leaders through developmental activities and initiatives to improve departmental culture, employee morale, performance, engagement, and retention. Works with leaders to identify opportunities, proactively and preventatively addressing common employee relations issues and provides guidance and coaching to managers of all levels to address employee behavior and performance areas. Conducts, oversees, supervises, and/or otherwise supports Employee Relations Specialists with fact-finding and formal investigations to address allegations of policy violations and/or workplace misconduct providing advice on appropriate outcomes including disciplinary action and performance management. Conducts, oversees, supervises, and/or otherwise supports Employee Relations Specialists with reviewing employee relations issues and makes recommendations for disciplinary actions taken on behalf of the organization, considering the rights of the employee, the organization, and best practices. Ensures that Employee Relations Specialists provide timely responses to team members or leaders regarding any Employee Relations issues. Ensures proper disciplinary action follow-up is completed and documented by the leader. Oversees the implementation of effective documentation practices, ensuring the accurate, secure, and confidential maintenance of records related to all reported matters and fact-finding investigations. Writes and drafts routine correspondence and informational reports. Creates follow-up documents to show measurable results. Partners with Employee Engagement to provide insight pre and post-survey ensuring to address any issues or concerns that arise, especially those relating to employee relations, conflicts, or workplace grievances. Guides the Employee Experience team to support leaders by facilitating focus groups to improve team member engagement for assigned customer groups. Keeps up to date on regulatory compliance, changes in laws, and other trends that affect JPS Policies and Procedures. Seeks guidance from in-house legal on concerns related to applicable Equal Employment Opportunity laws including Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and other similar federal and state laws. Makes recommendations for Policies and Procedures based on best practices, regulatory requirements, and state and federal guidelines. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Leadership, Industrial Psychology or related field of study.
- 5 years of experience in employee relations or as an HR Business Partner, ideally in a leadership or senior role, preferably within a human services or healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree in Human Resources, Leadership, Industrial Psychology or related field of study.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) certification.
- Previous leadership experience in human resources.
