Job Title: EL Assistant Reports To: Michelle Sorter, Principal Summary: The Multilingual Discretionary Assistant provides support to English language learners in the classroom and other settings. Duties include providing one-on-one assistance with academic tasks, translating and interpreting, and helping Multilingual students adjust to the school environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one assistance to Multilingual students with academic tasks, such as reading, writing, and math.
- Translate and interpret for Multilingual students in the classroom and other settings.
- Help Multilingual students adjust to the school environment, such as by helping them to make friends and understand the school rules.
- Collect data on Multilingual student progress and share this information with the classroom teacher and other relevant stakeholders.
- Attend professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on best practices for working with Multilingual students.
- Other duties as assigned.
