Shift & Schedule: 2nd Shift | Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM Overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
The QC Technician II plays a critical role in ensuring all products manufactured at our facility meet established quality and safety standards. This position performs advanced laboratory testing, sensory evaluations, and quality inspections to support production, compliance, and continuous improvement. The QC Technician II also maintains accurate records, supports audit readiness, and provides technical expertise in both analytical and microbiological testing.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare reagents and solutions, calibrate and standardize instruments, and conduct analytical testing (e.g., pH, acidity, density, Brix, particle size, absorbance/transmittance, assays)
Calculate batch adjustments and maintain retained samples for shelf-life studies and investigative testing
Conduct sensory evaluations of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products; document findings and escalate deviations
Maintain SAP database: enter analytical and qualitative results, block stock when issues arise, notify relevant business functions, and recommend corrective actions
Inspect sanitation, recipe compliance, labeling, fill weights, and packaging configuration to ensure quality and safety standards are met
Maintain accurate laboratory and product evaluation documentation to support investigations, audits, and customer inquiries
Perform internal audits of compounding, packaging, and storage areas; document observations and recommend improvements
Conduct basic microbiological testing and environmental monitoring (e.g., plating, air/water sampling, yeast and mold counts) and escalate out-of-spec findings
Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies to ensure uninterrupted testing
Perform other duties as assigned by management, supervisor, or lead

Requirements:
Associate degree in a math- or science-related field preferred; equivalent experience (3+ years in an analytical laboratory or as a Quality Technician I) may be substituted
Experience with laboratory instrumentation and SAP data systems preferred
Proficiency in computer applications, mathematics, and verbal communication
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to stand or walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment
Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Ability to perform visual inspections of products and materials
Ability to conduct sensory testing (smell and taste) for quality purposes
