Recreational Therapy Program Administrator

The Utah State Hospital is seeking a Recreational Therapy Program Administrator to lead our team of Recreational Therapists and champion our vision of improved quality of life for our patients. Are you a licensed and experienced Therapeutic Recreational Specialist who excels at managing RT programs? Do you have a passion for utilizing Therapeutic Recreation to assist patients with mental illness? Do you get excited about mentoring and training others in the Recreational Therapy discipline? Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be a licensed Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (Recreation Therapy Practice Act, 58-40/ Recreation Therapy Practice Act Rule, R156-40)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hold National Certification with NCTRC.
  • Have outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have a consistent and reliable work ethic with a positive attitude.
  • Manage time and resources with exceptional organizational skill to appropriately prioritize a large workload with several ongoing programs.
  • Act as a Recreational Therapy subject matter expert, and a pro-active resource for patients, subordinates and colleagues alike.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and manages projects and/or programs. Writes (or discusses) project/program plan(s), recommendation(s) and/or finding(s).
  • Monitors and evaluates operations, programs, processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Consults with managers, executives, and employees to identify problems, develop improvements, create and maintain quality standards.
  • Organizing, inventorying, and maintaining all recreation supplies.
  • Coordinates and/or acts as a liaison between agency or work unit and other agencies, work units, organizations, suppliers, etc.
  • Represents agency staff at interprofessional, team, and/or agency meetings.
  • Designs and/or prepares training/instructional materials, teaching aids and devices.
  • Consults with others to discuss treatment plans, new or unusual situations, findings, options, and recommendations on client/patient cases.
  • Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials.
  • Supervises subordinate personnel including hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Plans and conducts meetings.
  • Mentor student interns and actively promote the Utah State Hospital Recreational Therapy Intern program.

Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS):

  • Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement System prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.
  • Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System.
  • 1. Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k)).
  • 2. Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Your employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.
  • 3. Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.

Paid Time Off:

  • Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).
  • Annual leave amounts increase with years of service.
  • We have 12 paid holidays.
