Responsibilities

Performance specialists are experts in exercise science tasked with carrying out the planning and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for teams and individuals, as well as testing parameters which allow measurement of improvement throughout exercise prescription. These specialists' work environment ranges from private sector personal training and small group, high school weight room management and team training, and overseeing the yearly program for collegiate teams and carrying out the daily coaching.

Responsibilities:

  • Coaching individuals and teams through daily stretching, strength, speed, agility, power, and conditioning development programs.
  • Online training: Designing and maintaining virtual exercise plans with remote clients. Updating and enhancing exercise database and educational content, maintaining organized online resources such as team groups and program templates, responding to team and individual messages, updating social media platforms and training platform informational pages.
  • Testing teams and individuals to measure progress throughout training plans. Putting together after program summaries where a qualitative and quantitative analysis will be shared with individuals and head of partnered organizations (athletic director, coach, parents, participants etc).
  • Planning, writing, and maintaining daily, weekly, and yearly training programs for high school, collegiate, and private training groups and clients.
  • Recruitment: Building connections with referring personnel. Reaching out to prospective clients to share more information about training and sign up for programs, share additional programs with current clients to expand their participation, share other service options such as sports psychology and nutrition. Attend team informational sessions and other events with potential organizations to demonstrate our services.
  • Planning and organization of training sessions and program operations including planning and obtaining nutrition for special groups and putting together program summaries.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest research findings and coaching methods of strength and conditioning, exercise science, nutritional and mental health. Further enhancing overall program with continued knowledge base.
Qualifications

Bachelor's in Exercise Science, or equivalent field required. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, or Bachelor's in a related field. Master's In same or related field desirable preferred. Previous employment, internship, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Basic Foundational Knowledge of strength and conditioning or physical Performance training. Must be an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist or eligible to sit for the examination, or a comparable credential. CPR certification required and ability to call for and/or render care in the event of a patient emergency. Employee must maintain all requirements mandated by Strong Memorial Hospital/ Strong Health as a condition of employment.
