The Greater Vallejo Recreation District is a Special Service District that has been serving area residents for over sixty years. As a Special Service District, GVRD operates as a separate government agency from the City of Vallejo. GVRD manages 407 acres of public park space including 20 neighborhood parks, 10 community parks, 6 special purpose parks, and Olympic-size swimming pool and 4 community centers. GVRD maintains over 1,000 acres of public land.
GVRD is governed by a five-member Board of Directors. With 30 plus full time and approximately 155 part-time and seasonal employees, GVRD operates on a 2025-2026 fiscal year budget of $12.9 million for general fund operations and Measure K funding amounting to $2.2 million. The Measure K funding is being utilized to purchase necessary equipment, improve parks, facilities.
Job DefinitionUnder general supervision prepare Community Centers for use by the general public or District, monitor scheduled activities to ensure compliance with District regulations, provide information to the general public; and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Supervision Received and ExercisedReceives general supervision from the Recreation Coordinator.

Experience: Minimum one year general custodial and customer service experience
Education: Graduation from High School or equivalent
Working ConditionsEnvironmental Conditions: Office and community center environment; exposure to potentially hostile participants.
Physical Conditions: Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for lifting, stooping, bending, kneeling, and sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time as follows:
Standing: up to 2/3 of working time;
Walking: up to 2/3 of working time during events;
Sitting: up to 1/3 of working time;
Lifting up to 25 lbs: over 2/3 of working time;
Lifting over 25 lbs: up to 1/3 of working time;
Climbing /balancing: up to 2/3 of working time;
Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling: up to 1/3 of working time;
FLSA: Non-exempt
