Summary
This position serves as a Without Compensation Research Health Science Specialist within the Office of Research and Development (ORD). The VA Research Program aims to promote Veteran-centered care to improve patient experiences and outcomes across VA healthcare and community settings, and to advance value-driven care by providing Veterans with high-quality care at the lowest financial burden. Please note: there is no pay associated with this position.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements: - Experience: You must have general experience demonstrating (1) providing operational support and coordination for research and quality improvement projects as directed, handling project questions and problems independently in coordination with others.
- Education: A doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering Sciences field is required (transcripts are required at application).
- Competencies: You will be rated on project management, clinical data collection/documentation, critical thinking, technical credibility.
- Experience includes paid, unpaid, volunteer work, and service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and skills, and can be credited as qualifying experience.
- Work hours: A full year is considered 35-40 hours/week; part-time experience will be credited proportionally. Clearly indicate duties, responsibilities, and hours worked.
- Physical Requirements: The work is predominantly sedentary, with some walking, standing, bending, and carrying moderate weight items. Hand-eye coordination may be required for delicate procedures.
Duties
- Conduct behavioral, neuroimaging, and neurophysiological data collection and analysis for human studies.
- Provide operational support and coordination for VA research and quality improvement projects, handling questions and problems independently, managing timelines and deliverables.
- Write research policies, guidelines, procedures, and other documents to ensure compliance with regulatory and administrative requirements.
- Responsible for medical abstraction activities, including identifying and screening eligible candidates and validating data elements.
- Adhere to Good Research Practice guidelines in all activities.
- Work Schedule: Full-Time (Without Compensation). Telework not available. This is not a virtual position.
