The Aspen School District is seeking a dedicated Facilities Manager to work the swing shift (12:00 PM - 8:00 PM), with occasional weekend work required based on operational needs.Position Title: Facilities Manager Department: Operations and FacilitiesReports to: Director of Operations & FacilitiesClassification: Full-Time, Classified Administration, ExemptContract Period: 12 Month (247 days with some variance depending on the year), Swing Shift (12:00 PM - 8:00 PM) Compensation: Between $75,000 to $95,000 depending on experienceASD offers district-funded employee and dependent health benefits including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance to benefit-eligible employees. Other benefits include (as eligible): paid leave, CO PERA (pension plan) enrollment with district contribution, TSA options, free transportation for employees from Carbondale to Aspen, employee assistance program, wellness program, and supplemental insurance (i.e. cancer, disability, etc).Position Summary The Facilities Manager supervises, coordinates, and administers all campus operations. This role oversees maintenance, repairs, renovations, custodial services, and grounds upkeep to ensure optimal service delivery across multiple district sites. The operations manager troubleshoots problems, implements solutions, coordinates emergency responses and utility shutdowns, and works collaboratively with school leaders to maintain safe, clean, and efficient facilities with minimal disruption to educational programs. This is a swing shift position (12:00 PM - 8:00 PM) and may include weekend work as needed. Position Responsibilities Facilities Manager Responsibilities:Leadership & Collaboration Work closely with facilities staff, principals, and district leaders to implement and maintain effective facility services Lead and supervise custodial and maintenance teams, including scheduling, performance reviews, hiring and training. Manage assigned projects, timelines, and personnel efficiency. Quickly identify, analyze, and resolve complex equipment malfunctions, system disruptions, or team conflicts, including conducting root cause analysis to prevent recurrence. Foster a positive customer service culture among facilities staff Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school district policies Maintenance & Operations Oversee day-to-day operations, including maintenance, custodial services, and grounds Approve schedules, review time records, manage performance reviews, and handle disciplinary actions as needed. Establish, implement, and enforce standardized maintenance procedures and best practices. Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs Conduct regular facility inspections to ensure safety and high standards of cleanliness and appearance Coordinate special events and facility scheduling needs Direct site repairs, support construction, and renovation projects to ensure timely and budget-conscious completion Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment school regulations Support programs related to risk management, facility safety, and accident prevention Participate in ongoing training and professional development Oversee utility services and participate in emergency preparedness, including drills and on-call incident response Financial & Administrative Oversight Monitor and manage departmental budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility Manage inventory, bids, and purchasing procedures for supplies and equipment Serve as liaison with planners, architects, and contractors on capital improvement projects Maintain accurate and timely records and reports Additional Responsibilities Supervise snow removal operations Coordinate with external agencies (e.g., fire, police, public health) to maintain sanitation and safety standards Research and recommend new technologies, practices, or materials to improve efficiency and compliance Participate in professional development and trainings Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems Reactive and proactive maintenance protocols. Expertise in developing and implementing robust preventive maintenance programs, with a keen focus on integrating predictive maintenance technologies to proactively identify and avert potential equipment failures. Asset management, including parts and materials, tracking of performance, history, and lifecycle to maximize lifespan and minimize downtime Effective leadership and supervision practices Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and facility management software Effective verbal and written communication skills Standard maintenance and office procedures Ability to: Lead and supervise with confidence and effectiveness. Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and organizational skills Motivate, inspire, and guide, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Set clear expectations, delegating effectively; trusting and empowering team members to take ownership and accountability of tasks and problem-solving. Identify the strengths of individual team members, providing opportunities for growth and training, and developing a high-performing maintenance workforce. Effectively communicate, interact and coordinate with the team, upper management, other departments, vendors, and contractors, and resolve any conflicts. Be flexible and responsive to changing duties and priorities Minimum Qualifications At least 3 years of experience in facilities management, including repair and maintenance leadership Trade school, Associate's degree Valid Colorado Driver's License Preferred Qualifications At least 5 years of experience in facilities management, including repair and maintenance leadership Experience with complex facilities such as school campuses, resorts, hospitals, military bases, or performance centers Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred Bilingual Spanish-speaking candidates strongly encouraged to apply Working Conditions Exposure to noise, dust, odors, hazardous materials, and temperature extremes.
