Accomplishes Quality Verification Inspections on assigned aerospace ground equipment, components, performs Personnel Evaluations and other/surveillance inspections in accordance with the Quality Maintenance Evaluation Program. Performs other related Quality Assurance duties such as: Quality Maintenance Evaluation Program Monitor, and Self-Inspection Manager for the Maintenance Directorate. Visually inspects aerospace ground equipment/components for defects or errors in repair work or modification. Investigates and prepares reports on accidents/incidents on aircraft/equipment and personnel. Impounds aircraft/equipment as requested by the Director of Maintenance and ensures that all assigned personnel comply with all safety requirements. Conducts maintenance analysis referrals and other special studies that may identify technical or managerial deficiencies. Interprets technical orders, specifications, bulletins, drawings, messages, etc. for repair personnel and supervisors. Visually inspects aircraft engines, APU's during disassembly and build-up for defects or errors in the repair work or modification.

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC INSPECTOR without more than normal supervision. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Physical Effort: Performs work, which involves frequent bending stooping, reaching, crouching, standing and arm movement. Sometimes must work in awkward positions or cramped areas. Considerable standing, walking and climbing may be required. May lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds and lift heavier items using jacks, hoists, or helpers.
Working Conditions: Works inside and outside. Outside work may be performed in adverse weather. Some work is performed on the flightline and is subject to loud noise from jet engines.
Part-time or Unpaid Experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
