The Bioelectronics Systems Lab ( ) at The Fu Foundation School of Engineering & Applied Science of Columbia University in the City of New York invites applications for an Associate Research Scientist to work on a number of projects in our group related to our efforts to develop new tools for CMOS brain implant devices. Reporting to the Lab Director, the Associate Research Scientist will be responsible for assisting in the fabrication of semiconductor devices for bioelectronics applications, working with graduate students and postdocs.

The Associate Research Scientist should be able to work independently, troubleshoot, and resolve problems involving both equipment and processes in Columbias cleanroom facilities. The engineer should be able to learn about unfamiliar topics quickly and independently. The fabrication engineer should be able to communicate clearly with lab users, other team members, other departments of the university, and with vendors as needed.

The Associate Research Scientist will also assist with general lab management responsibilities for maintaining a safe and effective working environment within the Bioelectronics Systems Lab, in compliance with all University and government requirements and regulations as directed by the university Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) department. That includes but is not limited to safe handling of chemicals and gas cylinders, implementing and maintaining safety training, and ensuring a safe manner of work in the laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications

A PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or related field is required.
