The HR & Payroll Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of human resources and payroll administration across the company's locations. This role ensures accurate employee data within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), oversees onboarding and offboarding processes, manages applicant tracking, and coordinates payroll processing with external partners. The HR & Payroll Manager plays a critical role in maintaining compliance, supporting team member experience, and ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution. This position is based in Spartanburg, SC, and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS system, including new hires, terminations, and status changes.
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure compliance and consistency across all locations.
- Manage the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring timely posting, candidate communication, and hiring coordination.
- Extract and verify payroll hours from the POS system for all locations.
- Coordinate with our Professional Employer Organization (PEO) and third-party accounting firm to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for our PEO and accounting firm for any payroll-related inquiries and issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Support benefits administration and employee relations in collaboration with external HR partners.
- Assist in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures aligned with company culture and operational needs.
- Provide reporting and analytics on HR and payroll metrics to support leadership decision-making.
- Collaborate with operations and finance teams to align HR and payroll processes with business goals.
WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
- This is a full-time, in-person position based in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
- Occasional travel may be required to support onboarding, training, or audits at various locations across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
- Must be accessible by phone or in person to promptly address urgent HR or payroll matters.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in HR and payroll management, preferably in the quick service restaurant, retail, or hospitality industry.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems, ATS platforms, and POS-based time tracking.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR/payroll software.
- Knowledge of employment laws and payroll regulations.
- Experience working with PEOs and third-party payroll/accounting firms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
