Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Controls and Automation Engineer to join our manufacturing team in Grand Prairie, TX. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and troubleshooting factory-based electrical control systems and automation equipment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PLCs, HMI design, and industrial automation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot electrical control systems and machinery.
- Program and support PLC-based hardware/software (e.g., Allen-Bradley).
- Test and maintain electronic equipment used in manufacturing and power transmission.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues on conveyor systems, motors, drives, and pumps.
- Use CAD and engineering software for design and documentation.
- Evaluate and improve existing systems for reliability and performance.
- Develop and modify operator interfaces and automation platforms.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and NFPA-70E safety standards.
- Supervise and guide maintenance technicians as needed.
- Analyze production requirements and implement cost-effective solutions.
- Perform technical calculations for electrical and robotic systems.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Support the build and validation of automation systems including pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, and robotic integration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in Electrical Controls/System Engineering.
- Proficiency in ladder logic programming (Allen-Bradley: PLC5, SLC, ControlLogix 5000–5580).
- Experience with HMI design tools (FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Wonderware, LabVIEW).
- Familiarity with Ethernet/IP and basic networking.
- Knowledge of plant power distribution and motor control systems.
- Understanding of robotic programming and teach points.
