Head of Human Resources & Culture - multi-unit role for Luxury USA hotel group based in Puerto Rico (Forbes Standard of Service knowledge a great asset!)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and culturally astute Head of Human Resources & Culture to lead and elevate the people and service strategy across our client's luxury hotel portfolio in Puerto Rico and future expansion properties. This executive role is critical in fostering a world-class employee experience that mirrors the elevated service culture expected by discerning guests of luxury hospitality brands.

The ideal candidate will be a bilingual (Spanish/English) HR leader with a proven track record in luxury hotel environments, strong service culture expertise, and a passion for developing high-performance teams. This role is both strategic and operational, partnering closely with senior leadership to cultivate an inspiring culture, drive employee engagement, and ensure talent strategies align with the group's vision and values.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR or Talent role within luxury hotel or resort groups.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (spoken and written) – required.
  • Proven experience in managing multi-property operations and pre-opening HR strategy for new hotel developments.
  • Deep understanding of luxury service culture, employee engagement, and brand-driven HR practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and influence at all levels.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, Organizational Development, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Puerto Rican labor laws and hospitality industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Develop and execute a holistic talent and culture strategy across all properties aligned with the group's luxury service standards and brand values.
  • Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on organizational development, succession planning, workforce planning, and culture shaping.
  • Lead cultural integration for new hotel openings and acquisitions.

Talent Management & Employee Development

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of talent management including talent acquisition strategies, onboarding, learning & development, and performance management.
  • Design and implement training programs that reinforce a guest-centric, service-driven mindset at all levels of the organization.
  • Drive leadership development and mentorship initiatives to build internal talent pipelines and succession readiness.

Culture & Employee Experience

  • Champion a diverse, inclusive, and values-driven workplace that fosters engagement, motivation, and high retention.
  • Reinforce and evolve the company's service culture through clear communication, recognition programs, and consistent leadership behaviors.
  • Lead initiatives that enhance internal communications, employee well-being, and team cohesion across culturally diverse teams.

Compliance, Metrics & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure full compliance with local labor laws and industry regulations in Puerto Rico and upcoming jurisdictions.
  • Utilize HR metrics, feedback tools, and data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimize people performance.
  • Partner with property HR leaders to ensure consistent and high-quality HR service delivery across all locations.
