General Summary:
The General Manager Production-Pilot Paper Facility Directs all operations of the pulp, paper manufacture, recycle, and coating plant. Manages the production and quality of the various trials to ensure financial integrity in a safe and effective manner. Responsible for full profit and loss accountability through marketing and improvement of services.
Core Responsibilities:
- Market the plant's services to external and internal clients. Interacts with clients to sell, plan, conduct, evaluate, and document research and industry related product development trials.
- Provides operational leadership by managing production activities and ensuring consistent quality while fostering and enhancing the safety culture and team morale.
- Executes plans to capitalize on revenue generating opportunities. Books clients via proposal writing, price setting, and final contract negotiations.
- Manage the plant's financial performance, identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and assess new technologies and equipment to optimize operations.
- Oversee and direct the installation, modification, and maintenance of complex and heavy production equipment. Ensure the reliability of equipment through planned maintenance and address any troubleshooting issues that arise.
- Remains knowledgeable of environmental, raw materials, and product development trends, new products, and new marketing possibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
- Paper science industry experiences including knowledge of pulping, papermaking, coating and recycling.
- Supervisory experience.
- Budget management experience.
- Marketing and public relations experience.
- Safety regulations experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- 8 years of relevant experience.
