The Opportunity
The Civil Drafter role is responsible for preparing detailed engineering diagrams of manufactured products, machinery and mechanical equipment or devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information. Focus is on structural steel equipment.
The Team
The role will report to the Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for civil equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment
Work with engineering and manufacturing team members and with customers to design and layout detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems
Review and analyse specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.
Layout and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.
Confer with customer representatives to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to installation of systems.
Layout, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
Qualifications
Minimum Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree is preferred; or equivalent experience.
2 years' related experience preferred.
Proficiency using AutoCAD. 2D and/or 3D experience is preferred.
Drafting and design skills with metal fabrication.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
Able and willing to travel 10% of time within the United States.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 5-10% of the time
