Job Summary: A Patient Service Representative greets patients and assists them in person, on the phone, or through electronic correspondence. Responsibilities include scheduling, updating patient information, check-in/out procedures, and acting as a liaison for patient feedback to management.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients, verify appointment details, and notify nursing staff according to policies.
- Register new patients and assist with form completion.
- Verify and update patient information in the EMR system.
- Scan documents, IDs, and insurance cards into the patient records.
- Schedule future appointments based on procedure requirements and provider availability.
- Handle incoming and outgoing calls, routing information appropriately.
- Use triage procedures for patient care-related calls.
- Manage patient referrals and insurance authorizations/pre-certifications.
- Accept payments, issue receipts, and reconcile cash daily.
- Monitor patient flow and communicate delays or issues.
- Assist patients and families, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Provide translation services for non-English-speaking patients if bilingual.
- Follow policies for missed appointments and handle deliveries and general office duties.
- Maintain a professional environment and utilize technology effectively.
- Collaborate with staff and external parties as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum one year of customer service or medical office experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
