Located near the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, Wickliffe Mounds preserves a Mississippian-era Native American village dating from A. D. 1100 to 1350. Since its opening in 1932, the museum has showcased artifacts excavated onsite such as pottery and stone toolsthat offer insight into the lives of early Native cultures along the Mississippi River. The site includes a museum, exhibits, artifact collections, and a curation facility, and is situated along both the Great River Road National Scenic Byway and the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail.
