The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What Will I Be Doing?
  • Work with team to develop policies, plans, and initiatives to expand quality early childhood education opportunities in the region.
  • Support the management and oversight of Texas Rising Star activities in the region
  • Aid in the development of collaborative relationships with employers, parents, advocates, schools, childcare providers, and others to expand the availability of and access to quality early childhood education and support families and children.
  • Work with TRS mentors to ensure they are giving providers the support necessary to make improvements to obtain certification or to increase their TRS certification level.
  • Work with the team to develop policies, plans, and initiatives to expand quality early childhood education opportunities in the region.
  • Support the management and oversight of TRS activities in the region.
  • Support the Gulf Coast Workforce Board, Education Committee, Executive Director, Senior Manager, Program Administrators in developing quality early childhood education and strategic partnership plans, initiatives, and policies.
  • Collaborate with TWC and contractors to ensure all child care providers participating in our child care program have a TRS rating.
Key Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience within the Child Care industry and the Texas Rising Star program.
  • Access to an established/existing base of contacts/connections within the Child Care industry.
  • Self-started, critical problem solver, can do attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand child care providers needs and craft solutions.
  • Able to demonstrate experience with computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office.
Do You Have
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
