Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Produce Manager in various aspects of the department's operations.
- Demonstrate top-notch customer service, inspiring teammates to do the same.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring that damaged, spoiled, or outdated products are properly disposed of in accordance with company policy.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with the Produce Manager to ensure smooth operations.
- Adhere to procedures for product receiving, pricing, and restocking to maintain product quality and rotation.
- Execute the department merchandising plan effectively.
- Support the ongoing training and development of department teammates.
- Perform regular inspections of signs, pricing, and displays to maintain a tidy and visually appealing environment.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, programs, and guidelines.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment for yourself and customers.
- Engage actively with customers to provide assistance and address inquiries.
- Collaborate with teammates to identify and resolve issues and inefficiencies.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with various types of produce and the ability to operate department equipment.
- Proficient in reading and writing in English.
- Strong customer relations skills.
- Ability to calculate gross margins and retail prices effectively.
- Capable of managing tasks efficiently.
Working Conditions:
Expect frequent exposure to refrigerated areas and humid conditions, with the possibility of encountering wet or slippery surfaces. The noise level is typically moderate but can increase with power tools or other equipment usage. As part of the role, you may be subject to exposure to communicable diseases.
Physical demands include lifting heavy items (50-100 pounds occasionally, 25-50 pounds frequently, and constantly over 20 pounds), as well as standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, and reaching. Flexibility and physical stamina are essential for success in this position.
