Our goal is to have a positive and long-lasting impact on the lives of the people and communities we serve with the hope of providing the care, support, and attention they need.So it is our pleasure to announce that we are currently seeking a full-time candidate for the role of Housekeeping-Food Service Supervisor to join our team!By ICL definition, under the direct supervision of the HK-FS Manager, or Program Dir. a Housekeeping-Food Service Supervisor (HK-FS Super.) is someone responsible for supervising all Housekeeping-Food Service staff in the upkeep of assigned areas in a community residence: food prep, portioning, serving, cleaning dishes, kitchen equipment, and dining areas as well as assisting in laundry duties.MIN. ROLE REQUIREMENTS & PREFERENCES:Location: Queens, NY 11101Available 5 Days min. Monday to Sunday, with options for O.T. - Shift: Days & Hours TBDEDU: GED/HSE or higher requiredEXP: 2+ years of supervisory AND housekeeping-food service, dietary, or restaurant experience - preferably in a shelter settingHouse Cleaning Tech and/or NYS Food Handler Certified - not mandatory but preferredProper attire at all times - this includes business casual and/or professionalESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Ability to prepare written reports of the unit's activitiesKnowledge of the principles and practices of supervisionKnowledge of proper food prep and storage procedures for foodstuffsKnowledge of personnel practices related to hiring, and evaluating employee performanceKnowledge of cleaning procedures and properties of commonly used cleaning substancesAbility to recognize below-standard work performance and take appropriate remedial actionKnowledge of cleaning equipment and effective housekeeping work performance standardsKnowledge of the basic arithmetic functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and divisionAbility to perform medium to heavy manual labor, including lifting objects weighing up to 25+ lbsKnowledge of the agencies and program's food service, housekeeping practices, and proceduresStrong communication, interpersonal, writing, and conveying skills - bi-lingual is a plus but not mandatoryKnowledge of household and cleaning supply requisitioning, inventory, and distribution practices and techniquesHK-FS SUPER. ADMIN TASKS:Prepare periodic reports per established agency and program procedureInform staff at meetings and in memoranda of agency policies, directives, and guidelinesMay interview prospective employees and recommend a selection of qualified candidatesProvide requisitions for needed supplies such as linens, cleaning supplies, etc., overseeing proper distribution, storage, and safekeepingRecommend changes in cleaning, housekeeping, and food service methods, equipment, supplies, and standards to ensure a more effective and efficient programEvaluate subordinates' individual work performance and initiate corrective action as appropriate, keeping upper management informed of all complaints, and resolving disciplinary concernsPlan and schedule appropriate staff assignments and coverage for housekeeping and food services based on workload and available staffing, providing instructions to staff about special procedures to be performedHK-FS SUPER. PROGRAM TASKS:Enforce company and site policies including attendance rules and proceduresInvestigate complaints regarding unsatisfactory cleaning performance and/or missing propertyArrange for reassignment of personnel to handle emergency cleaning projects, etc. affecting change as necessaryFully utilize and reassign staff to ensure work is complete according to the schedule and established work standardsProvide in-service training for subordinate staff in the procedures and techniques required in the performance of their jobs and ensure appropriate follow-up on training as appropriatePeriodically review and inspect the work of subordinates, buildings, and assigned areas for proper compliance procedures with program services including routine food prep, appropriate dishwashing, and other cleaning actions, and the maintenance of pertinent sanitary measures with established standards and schedules affecting service operations and personnelPerform other job-related tasks as assigned in an organized and detail-oriented manner such as any or all of the above tasks outlined in the job description of Housekeeping-Food Service WorkerPlease Note: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed satisfactorily.
