Job Title: Electro-Mechanical Designer

Location: Yorkville, IL

Employment Type: 1–2 Year Contract (Onsite, 5 days/week)

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Pay Rate: $45–$55/hour

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer - Project Engineer to support engineering projects from concept through execution in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in mechanical engineering design, piping systems, and process equipment, with proven experience delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of process piping systems, equipment layouts, and machine designs.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including P&IDs, design drawings, and specifications.
  • Utilize SolidWorks and PDM Vault for design, configuration, and revision control.
  • Perform line leveling and mass flow calculations to ensure system performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, operations, and maintenance to ensure designs meet functional and regulatory requirements.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new equipment and process lines.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in mechanical design and project execution.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM Vault, and process piping design.
  • Strong knowledge of P&ID development and machine design principles.
  • Demonstrated experience performing line leveling and mass flow calculations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results in a manufacturing setting.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in food, pharmaceutical, or medical device industries.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and sanitary design standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on, detail-oriented approach.
