We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook 2 to join our food service team at a high-volume dining facility on Fort Drum. This mid-level role is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting meals in accordance with standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
- Prepare and cook meals following standardized recipes, portion controls, and dietary guidelines.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and presentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Uphold food safety and sanitation standards in accordance with health regulations (e.g., ServSafe).
- Assist with receiving, labeling, and storing food supplies using FIFO methods.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and supervisors to coordinate meal production.
- Support junior staff with guidance and training as needed.
- Respond to routine kitchen challenges with practical, timely solutions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment during high-volume service periods.
What You'll Need:
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working in a commercial, institutional, or high-volume kitchen environment.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of hands-on experience working as a Cook in a commercial, institutional, or high-volume kitchen.
- Prior experience mentoring or supporting junior kitchen staff is a plus.
- Experience operating kitchen equipment and managing prep timelines.
- Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe certification preferred).
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for measuring, conversions, and inventory support.

Physical & Environmental:
- The position requires standing for extended periods, with occasional walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
