Department: Virginia Beach Sheriffs Office. Job Title: Clerk Property/ Mail. Starting Salary: $33,342.40 / $16.03 an hour. Closing Date: Open Until Filled. Job Type:Full-Time (Monday Friday 0730-1600 with hour lunch) Nature of Work: Individual will be responsible for answering and screen incoming phone calls and courteously and accurately respond to phone request and walk-in inquires in the property division. Receive inmate property through public property window; package outgoing inmate property; place inmate property in assigned inmate bins; pick up, sort, label with housing assignments, open, inspect, write up restricted mail and deliver inmate mail, newspapers, books and magazines; assist in maintaining computerized informational databases and related work as required. May have limited inmate contact. Minimum Requirements: High school or GED plus six (6) months experience in fields providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities such as clerical work.
