The Licensed Practical Nurse in Acute Care (LPN) provides patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The LP - Nplays an integral role in the physical and emotional comfort of patients and their families. The LPN provides direct patientcare in collaboration with other health care team members and completes other tasks to support patient care. The NYS - Education Department differentiated scope of practice of LPNs and RNs is the source of document used for determining tasksthat the LPN may perform. Level II requirements: (In addition to Level I requirements) Provides preceptorship of new hire PCT or new hire Level I or II LPN orientees upon completion of the Ancillary Preceptor Course.
