Center Of Excellence Director

Reporting to the Executive Director CIO, the Center of Excellence Director would plan, organize, coordinate, review, activities of the Center of Excellence, including workforce research, partnership development, strategic planning, and project management. Duties include but not limited to the following:

• Researches and analyzes various program data and develops reports.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance technical capabilities of the agency.
• Recommend tools and methodologies on how to adopt the emerging technology.
• Manage a team of experts, and foster a culture of technical excellence, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Define standard metrics and update the business leaders along with the extended Operational Team. Provide support and direction on organizational change management.
• Benchmark best practices by identifying the latest technologies across the industry.
• Establish or provide standardized approaches/processes & knowledge centers.
• Manage all related contracts, including negotiating pricing with vendor and tracking usage, billing, renewals, and overarching service issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 7 years of software engineering experience with 3 years managing a cloud technology product team
• 5 years of experience in customer-facing cloud operations
• 5 years of experience in management consulting and product management for cloud deployments
• 3 years of experience as a practice lead for driving strategic Center of Excellence operations

Additional Comments:

This position will be located in either Albany, NY or New York City. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits of Working for NYS include a generous benefits package, worth 65% of salary, including holiday & paid time off, health care benefits, and additional benefits.

Positions located in New York City, will receive an additional $4,000 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $2,000 adjustment location pay.
