DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Mail Machine Operator I, you will be responsible for processing permit and meter mail jobs using high-powered folding and inserting equipment. Duties will entail receiving and transporting checks to the Mail Center and preparing materials and equipment for large mail operations. Diligent attention to detail is essential in order to monitor machine operations, perform routine maintenance, and ensure all mail is processed accurately and efficiently. Strong organizational skills are employed to maintain records, handle various mail processing forms, and adhere to U.S. Postal Service regulations. Your role is crucial in ensuring that all checks are issued promptly and accurately to our citizens.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of clerical, mail processing training; and graduation from high school or certification of equivalent training; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
  • This position requires the ability to lift packages up to 100lbs.
  • This position requires the ability to push and pull carts up to 200lbs.
  • This position requires the ability to operate a Commonwealth vehicle.
  • This position requires the ability to stand for six hours a day.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have experience using Microsoft computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to learn other software applications necessary to complete job duties.
  • You must have experience prioritizing tasks, managing multiple responsibilities, and meeting deadlines effectively and in assigned time frames.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience operating mail equipment such as tabletop inserters and meter machines.
