Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time, on-site Project Estimator to join our team in the Greater Pittsburgh Region. This role involves preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, supporting project planning efforts, and contributing to winning bid strategies. The Estimator will play a critical role in the preconstruction phase by collaborating with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to deliver comprehensive and timely proposals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and documentation to develop precise cost estimates
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and material evaluations across all scopes of work
  • Request and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns including labor, materials, equipment, overhead, and general conditions
  • Participate in pre-bid site visits and meetings to gather critical project insights
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, field supervisors, and clients to ensure alignment between estimates and project goals
  • Assist in preparing bid packages, presentations, and formal proposals for submission
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date database of historical costs for use in future estimations
  • Track estimate performance and participate in post-bid analysis to enhance future accuracy
  • Review and interpret project bid requirements related to wage compliance, permitting, taxation (B&O), minority participation goals (MBE/DBE/WBE), licensing, testing requirements, scheduling expectations, and more
  • Maintain and regularly update lists of preferred subcontractors, suppliers, and manufacturers
  • Work collaboratively across departments to support organizational goals
  • Build and strengthen relationships with design professionals and trade partners to improve bid competitiveness and project delivery

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction cost estimating, budgeting, and cost control
  • Strong proficiency in preparing detailed and competitive bids
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • High attention to detail during document review and site inspections
  • Skilled in using industry-standard estimating software
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred)
