Position Summary

Develop lesson plans and provide tutoring for the After School Program at the Fort Wayne Urban League.

Assist CEO and Program Assistant with Program Development. This position is responsible for ensuring effective program outcomes and compliance with grant requirements. Fort Wayne Urban League staff are expected to believe in the Fort Wayne Urban League's core values, beliefs, vision, and mission related to quality services to families and children, as well as one another.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide individual and small group tutoring sessions to students in grades K-12

• Assist students with homework, test preparation, and subject-specific skills

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with academic standards

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other teachers to support student success

• Maintain a positive and organized learning environment that fosters student engagement and motivation

• Works to maintain program capacity to ensure budgetary expectations are met or exceeded, including but not limited to the following: staffing, referrals and maintaining positive customer service to all clients and agency referral sources.

• Assisting in effective tracking and monitoring systems to ensure compliance with funder's requirements.

• Assist in effective tracking and monitoring systems to ensure quality outcomes for all programs.

• Welcome and monitor students and caregivers for the Tutoring program. This will include scheduling, tracking and face-to-face interaction. Be trusted to open and close the agency.

• Nurturing relationships with families and the community.

• Must be able to complete all training and background requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to work under stressful conditions, to deal with upset or volatile individuals.

• Requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets or bend and stoop, as necessary.

• Requires the ability to occasionally lift office supplies, materials, and equipment up to 25 pounds.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

• Monday – Thursday 3:00pm – 6:00pm with up to 4 hours planning time available each week.

• Hours may vary depending on the Agency's needs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

• Currently attending college and working toward a degree in education or related field. Or qualified home-school teacher with 3 years of experience.

• Experience in providing customized K-8 grade curriculum.
