Tool and Die Technician
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Technician to support mold maintenance, repair, and fabrication in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is hands-on, requiring expertise with machining, welding, and troubleshooting injection molds to ensure equipment reliability and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate overhead crane (up to 40 tons), forklift, milling machines, horizontal lathes, surface grinders, and powered hand tools.
- Perform precision TIG welding requiring coordination of both hands and foot controls.
- Operate dry-ice blasting equipment for cleaning and mold maintenance.
- Disassemble and reassemble injection molds for preventive maintenance and repair:
- Lift and handle components up to 50 pounds.
- Use pneumatic, electric, and manual hand tools for mold disassembly/reassembly.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues with molds (up to 240 volts).
- Diagnose and resolve tooling and mold issues during the PM process using strong problem-solving skills.
- Ensure proper documentation of repairs and communicate mold status to production teams.
- Work in physically demanding environments—standing for long periods, climbing ladders (3–6 feet), and accessing injection molding machines as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in tool and die, mold repair, or precision machining.
- Strong knowledge of injection mold disassembly, repair, and preventive maintenance.
- Proficiency with machining equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, and welding).
- Electrical troubleshooting skills (up to 240 volts).
- Excellent problem-solving ability and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to meet physical demands: lifting, climbing, and extended periods on feet.
- Safety-conscious with strong attention to detail and adherence to company standards.
