Job Title: Estimator – Civil Construction
Location: Columbia, SC
Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 (based on experience)
About the Opportunity:
A well-established General Contractor is seeking a skilled Estimator to join their team in Columbia, SC. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional with a background in civil construction estimating, particularly in heavy civil, site work, utilities, drainage systems, and road projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed estimates for site work and heavy civil construction projects ranging from $500K to $10M.
- Estimate self-performed work by pricing labor, equipment, and materials.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to produce accurate cost estimates.
- Assess construction risks and site exposures, ensuring these are reflected in the estimate.
- Identify constructability challenges and propose value-engineering alternatives.
- Develop conceptual, schematic, and final contract estimates.
- Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Collaborate effectively with project teams and management throughout the estimating process.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Civil Estimator with a General Contractor.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in estimating grading, utilities, and general site development projects.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Adobe.
- Experience with takeoff/modeling software such as Agtek, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, or CAD required.
- Familiarity with HCSS or B2W software is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
- Willingness to travel within SC, NC, and GA as needed.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for an 8-hour workday, with occasional bending, walking, crouching, and climbing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and carry up to 15 lbs.
- Work is typically performed indoors in a moderate-noise environment.
