Job Specific Duties
- The Unit Host is responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of meals to patients, staff, and visitors in an acute healthcare setting. This role involves ensuring that food is prepared and served according to dietary guidelines and safety standards, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, and providing excellent customer service. The Unit Host is responsible for obtaining patients' meal orders in-person, ensuring they align with dietary restrictions and physician-prescribed diets.
What you will need
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role is a plus, but not required.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to follow dietary guidelines and safety standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out directions given in written or oral form. Ability to problem solve.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and compute ratios and percent's.
- Ability to learn a variety of different diets and identify alternatives for patients with dietary restrictions.
- Must have a valid California Food Handlers Certification or will obtain within seven days of hire.
- Successful candidates must meet eligibility criteria, including the ability to undergo and successfully complete a criminal background check and drug screen in accordance with applicable State laws and regulations.
- Ability to provide documents for work authorization. We utilize E-Verify, an online system that allows us to confirm the eligibility of our employees to work in the United States.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
- Ability to lift and move objects, up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach frequently.
- Manual dexterity to handle kitchen equipment, utensils and meal ordering system.
- Ability to work in a busy, sometimes noisy environment.
