The Library Assistant position assists with circulation, public computer assistance, reader's advisory, general reference and public service desk duties in person, online and by telephone with a goal of responsive, excellent customer service. Materials processing, collection maintenance, money counting and basic office tasks are all typical for this position. Library Assistants will demonstrate current computer competencies including Microsoft Office, the NC Cardinal/ Evergreen ILS system, electronic devices used to download library media, and basic office equipment. Independent judgement must be used within the framework of departmental policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned by the Library Branch Manager. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends.
