Claims Property Adjuster CA
This position supports the Property Claims operation by handling claims reported on Homeowner policies written by the Interinsurance Exchange, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements. The role involves managing claims of low to moderate complexity, including interpreting First Notice of Loss reports, conducting loss investigations, evaluating coverage, and negotiating claims resolutions. The adjuster employs discretion and independent judgment to ensure compliance with applicable laws and applies technical and customer service best practices in line with company guidelines.
Job Duties
Conduct phone investigations to determine coverage and damages, obtain statements from insureds, vendors, and witnesses, and maintain proper activity and service levels. Communicate with members, insureds, and claimants to explain policy coverages, benefits, and claims processes, ensuring compliance with regulations. Address common coverage issues appropriately. Evaluate, assess, decide, and negotiate within settlement authority to resolve first-party claims across multiple markets, demonstrating proficiency with property assessment and claims technology. Coordinate with internal and external departments as required. Participate in legal proceedings if necessary. Respond promptly to insured needs and issues. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-3 years of prior claims handling experience required.
- 4-6 years of property claims handling experience preferred.
- Knowledge of claims administration best practices and procedures.
- Understanding of fault assessment, negligence, and subrogation principles is desirable.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, general computer software, and claims software.
- Moderate organizational, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
- Valid driver's license, acceptable DMV record, and minimum liability insurance as mandated by the state.
- An insurance or claims adjuster license may be required in certain states.
The starting pay range for this position is $25.48 $28.03 per hour, with eligibility for incentive programs based on performance.
