Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to provide urgent and critical care to patients in a fast-paced, Level I trauma center environment. This role requires expertise in rapid patient assessment, triage, and management of diverse medical and traumatic conditions across all acuity levels. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic setting and excel at multitasking during high-stress situations.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS are typically required for this specialty.
- Technical Skills: Epic electronic medical record system experience is REQUIRED.
- Travel Policy: No local candidates within the facility's defined ineligible counties.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rapid triage and assessment of patients presenting with a wide variety of medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions.
- Provide emergency nursing care to patients across all acuity levels, from minor injuries to critically ill trauma patients.
- Administer medications, perform IV insertion, and assist with procedures such as intubation, chest tube insertion, and trauma resuscitations.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and other critical parameters.
- Collaborate effectively with emergency physicians, trauma surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams to implement treatment plans.
- Provide patient and family education regarding conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain readiness for emergency situations and disaster responses.
Unit & Patient Population Details
- Patient Population: Patients of all ages with diverse conditions including trauma, cardiac emergencies, strokes, respiratory distress, psychiatric crises, and general medical/surgical emergencies.
- Clinical Focus: Rapid assessment, trauma care, cardiac monitoring, stroke management, and emergency procedures.
- Care Environment: Level I Trauma Center with high-volume emergency services, pediatric emergency care, and comprehensive specialty support.
- Typical Cases: Myocardial infarction, stroke, sepsis, trauma resuscitations, respiratory failure, pediatric emergencies, and behavioral health crises.
- Technology: Advanced cardiac monitoring, ventilators, point-of-care testing, trauma resuscitation equipment, and specialized pediatric emergency equipment.
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs required
