Description:

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Quality Control Technician (Work in Process) at the Zwolle Engineered Wood Products manufacturing facility located in Zwolle, LA. The compensation for this role is $23.50 per hour.

Position Summary:

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining product quality across all departments of the engineered wood products facility. This role ensures compliance with internal standards and customer specifications by conducting inspections, analyzing data, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The technician will also be responsible for inventorying finished and in-process products throughout the mill. The incumbent will report to the Quality Control Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Quality Monitoring:

• Perform routine inspections and quality checks on products at the green end, dry end, plywood department, and lumber areas.
• Use grading equipment and visual inspection techniques to assess product quality and identify defects.
• Record and report quality data accurately and in a timely manner.

Inventory Management:

• Conduct regular inventory counts of products in all areas of the mill.
• Coordinate with production and shipping teams to ensure inventory accuracy and availability.
• Compliance & Documentation:
• Ensure all products meet internal and external quality standards, including APA, ISO, ANSI, and all customer-specific requirements.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions.
• Assist in audits and compliance reviews as needed.

Continuous Improvement:

• When appropriate participate in root cause analysis, continuous improvement teams, and corrective action processes.
• Recommend improvements to processes, equipment, and procedures to enhance product quality and efficiency.
• Support training efforts for production staff on quality standards and best practices.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Quality control/assurance experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with engineered wood products and grading standards is preferred.
