As a Library Assistant I (LAI) you will support the Manager to serve the needs of a diverse community and provide superior customer service to patrons and coworkers. We are seeking someone that uses customer service talents to build relationships with patrons and the community. - Checks materials in and out
- Demonstrates knowledge of basic computer software, library databases, and digital resources
- Assists patrons in placing requests for library materials

- Monitors and assists with use of computers, mobile devices, tablets, and e-reader
Works on departmental and branch projects as assigned by management or as temporary workloads dictate
- Plans, presents, and assists with all JDL activities, classes, displays, and outreach
- Performs clerical and support functions within the department
- Processes incoming and outgoing materials
- Assists in collection maintenance projects
- Performs data entry, and compiles and maintains statistical information
Performs a variety of services to assist in the efficient and effective operation of the Library
- Makes recommendations regarding collection maintenance
- Keeps library materials organized, shelved, and neatly arranged
- Reads shelves and conducts inventories
- Helps patrons and staff with problem solving and basic troubleshooting of equipment, hardware, and software
- Performs specific ongoing tasks such as basic housekeeping and grounds keeping functions, mailroom duties, drop box duties, materials rotations, creating/designing displays, etc.
- Works and cross trains with other staff, branches, and departments
- Knows and follows library procedures and policies

Employment Qualifications •High School Diploma or GED plus some college course work •1 year of similar job experience (customer service) •1 year business/office experience •Basic computer knowledge Physical Requirements Ability to stand, sit, bend, twist, stoop, reach and grasp, walk, push, pull, or lift materials or equipment weighing 15 pounds or more, manually manipulate computer keyboard, mouse, and scanner, etc. Additional Requirements Ability to read and write, type and operate standard computer software, perform basic mathematical computations, communicate effectively, work a determined schedule including evenings and weekends, take and follow direction, work well with patrons, coworkers, and management, organize work successfully, maintain confidentiality, give attention to detail, maintain, a positive customer service attitude (internal and external), meet deadlines, work independently, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
