The community boasts a beautiful clubhouse, a 27-hole golf course, a racquet center, a fitness and wellness facility, multiple swimming pools, and a River Club with a boat dock. The environment is designed to provide a premier living experience complemented by a variety of recreational and wellness amenities.

Role Description

This full-time onsite role of Director of Fitness and Wellness at Pelican Sound Golf & River Club is located in Estero, FL. The Director will oversee the daily operations of the fitness facility, develop and implement wellness programs, manage and train the fitness trainers, and work closely with members to promote health and wellness. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for budgeting and ensuring that the fitness and wellness programs align with community standards and goals.

Essential Functions include but not limited to the following:

• Increasing member participation by actively promoting fitness programs, delivering exceptional service, and increasing visibility of fitness offerings within the community

• Recruit, hire, train, manage, and evaluate Fitness Center Staff

• Communicate regularly with staff about important issues, program needs and evolving policies and procedures.

• Trains new employees and provides ongoing training for all staff.

• Coordinates group exercise schedule and instructors.

• Establishes, monitors, analyzes and adheres to the Fitness Center budget on an ongoing basis.

• Develops and implements policies and procedures for the Fitness Center.

• Conducts departmental meetings

• Acts as a contact person for members regarding group exercise and personal training matters.

• Supervises any specialized fitness program in the department.

• Evaluates the program effectiveness and success based on revenues, participation, satisfaction and further interest.

• Recommend purchases of equipment and supplies, and a long-term equipment replacement plan, interface professionally and positively with vendors regarding equipment purchases, delivery, scheduled preventative maintenance, needed repairs and billing, maintain accurate purchase and service records.

• Provide an effective safety/risk management program and procedures for emergency care of participants; schedule training/certification classes in CPR/First Aid for employees; and conduct safety inspections of facilities and activities

• Monitor budget on ongoing basis

• Develop and coordinate fitness center programs

• Provide Fitness Center orientation sessions (instruction on correct and appropriate use of equipment) at regular intervals and varied times throughout the year, with emphasis at beginning of season.

• Develop and execute a system of routine maintenance, a schedule of daily, weekly, quarterly and annual maintenance to ensure proper working condition and adherence to warranty requirements.

• Provide day to day mechanical and advanced technical support for equipment in the fitness center. Oversee routine equipment maintenance and cleaning and train others to assist. Inspect equipment and perform preventive servicing and repairs. Maintain accurate service records

• Inspect cleanliness of facility and report problems

• Observe activity in the fitness center, making sure all the equipment is being used safely.

• Assist members when asked or if you see a situation that maybe detrimental or cause a potential injury.

• Ensure all weights are off the floor and put away after use; all wipes and garbage disposed of in garbage receptacles; all machines kept clean for the next user.

• Monitors fitness center; assists members with proper techniques, answers question and provides information about health promotion and fitness.

• Treats all members and guests in a friendly, professional manner. Answers questions and address and assist with any customer service concerns.

• Attends all training sessions and regular staff meetings

• Performs other duties that may be assigned.
