Job DescriptionPosition: Assisted Living CNA Starting Pay: $20.50 - $24 per hour based on years of certification. This position is eligible for weekend and shift differentials.   • Successful completion of a State-approved nursing assistant training program. Prior geriatric nursing aide experience is preferred. Registration with the State of Connecticut Registry is required.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicates effectively, and performs simple arithmetic.
  • Ability to document care given legibly.
  • Good observation and data collection skills.
  • Must be able to transfer residents weighing 50lbs or more using a transfer belt, or mechanical lift or with assistance from others.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized functions.

** Based on employment classification Essential Job Duties:
  • Cares for the overall resident personal hygiene and ADL (activities of daily living) functioning.
  • Gives treatments, performs tests, carries out procedures and collects specimens as instructed.
  • Reports and records observations and results of treatments, tests, procedures and specimens when indicated.
  • Transfer, transport, and escort residents as needed.
  • Answers signal lights promptly.
  • Changes bed linens, makes beds and keeps rooms clean and orderly.
  • Takes vital signs as indicated
  • Keeps RN Designee/SALSA/Supervisor informed of resident status
  • Assist clients with personal care activities including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, dressing, toileting and grooming.
  • Assists the client with exercises, ambulation, transfer activities and supervision of self-administered medication including:
    • Reminding client to self-administer medication
    • Verifying that a client has self-administered his or her medication
  • Assist the client with the self-administration in the form of opening bottles, bubble packs, or other forms of packaging if the client is not capable of performing this function.
  • Performs routine household services essential to client care at home, including shopping, meal preparation, laundry and housecleaning.
  • Assists with escorts to the dining room, beauty shop, physical therapy, activities, etc.
  • Make visits to assigned residents.
