Overview The Community Events Specialist is responsible for the comprehensive planning, execution, and oversight of all events and sponsorships for the credit union. This role includes managing corporate and community events and ensuring that all events and sponsorships align with the credit union's strategic goals. The role involves coordinating with internal teams, external vendors, and sponsors to deliver successful events and maximize sponsorship opportunities. Additionally, the Community Events Specialist will be responsible for managing and aligning department staff for events and sponsorships. ResponsibilitiesEvent Planning and Execution
- Plan and execute all events, including communications and attendance as needed
- Meet with business units to discuss event goals and needs, make recommendations for success, and understand the target audience
- Develop and implement advertising strategies for events in collaboration with the Marketing team
- Oversee the creation of event materials including handouts, signage, giveaways, and activities with support from the Marketing team
- Coordinate volunteer sign-ups when additional on-site support is needed
- Execute hands-on setup of event materials including table displays, decorations, registration tables, etc.
- Coordinate catering services and supervise catering staff to ensure quality assurance
- Manage tear-down of events as needed
- Conduct post-event analysis including recommendations for future events, and provide data or feedback on goals reached
Branch Engagement & Alignment
- Conduct monthly visits to all NWFCU branches to ensure alignment on marketing initiatives, event needs, and promotional materials
- Participate in monthly Branch Manager Meetings to provide marketing updates, gather feedback, and ensure cohesive execution of campaigns and events at the branch level
- Act as the primary point of contact for branch event-related needs, ensuring clear communication and follow-through
Major Corporate and Community Events
- Manage and oversee planning and on-site execution for various corporate, community, SEG, and branch events
- Support employee engagement events as requested
Staff Management and Alignment
- Manage and align department staff for various events and sponsorships, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and roles
- Coordinate with internal teams to allocate resources and expertise as needed for successful event execution
- Provide guidance and support to team members involved in event planning and execution
- Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in event planning, sponsorship management, or a related field
- Proven track record of successfully managing events and sponsorships
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Experience in managing and aligning staff for events and projects
- Proficiency in event management software and tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with sponsors and partners
- Creative approach to event planning and execution
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
- Adaptability and continuous learning in the evolving field of event management and sponsorships
- Ability to work effectively on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters and equally effectively remotely
- Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm with the ability to attend events after hours and weekends
Preferred
- Certification in event management or related field (e.g., CMP - Certified Meeting Professional)
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial management related to event planning and sponsorships
