Job Description: The Nursing Department invites applications to teach in OCC's workforce program. Major responsibilities include teaching classroom instruction and evaluation, clinical instruction and evaluation, lab instruction and evaluation; student mentoring and ensuring strengthening of knowledge, skills and competencies for the workforce programs including Certified Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, Phlebotomy and other workforce programs. The successful candidate will:
- Use appropriate technology to deliver and enhance learning.
- Be innovative in the presentation of hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes.
- Assess learning outcomes and provide timely feedback.
- Be responsive to student questions and available for student support.
- Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
- Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.
Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSWorkforce position:
- Current NYS RN registration and CPR certification.
- Certification to teach Nurse Aide or Practical Nursing or Home Health Aide.
- One year of experience teaching nurse aides in a residential health care facility or
- One year of experience teaching nursing or nursing related programs to adults in an academic setting approved by the Commissioner of Education or
- Completion of the State approved professionally recognized course in teaching adult learners or Documentation is attached that verifies one year of experience caring for the elderly and/or chronically ill.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.
Additional Information: - Salary range for Instructor to Assistant Professor level is $53,045- 59,676.
