The HR Generalist is a key driver in both managing organizational change and transforming the HR function within a union environment. By facilitating communication, supporting employees, and championing new initiatives, they will help ensure the HR department evolves to meet current and future business needs.
We are looking for:
- The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with all levels of the organization.
- This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Kronos/Time management systems, employee engagement and development, policy implementation, recruitment/employment site support and employment law compliance.
We count on you for:
- Administer various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
- Assist in recruitment support on site for salaried and hourly personnel.
- Assist in new-hire orientation; monitor and assist in career-path programs/succession planning; write job descriptions and post positions at the site level as needed.
- Assist in conducting “stay” and exit interviews.
- Perform benefits related administration, including sick leave monitoring, and communicating benefits information to employees.
- Assist in payroll responsibilities. Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
- Assist in other site related duties, i.e. distribution of gift cards, etc.
- Union and Non-Union experience is required.
Additionally:
Change Management
- Communication: Acts as a bridge between leadership and employees, ensuring clear and consistent messaging about changes.
- Employee Support: Provides guidance and support to employees during transitions, addressing concerns and maintaining morale.
- Training & Development: Organizes training sessions to help staff adapt to new processes, systems, or structures.
- Feedback Collection: Gathers feedback from employees to identify challenges and suggest improvements.
Reinventing the HR Department
- Process Improvement: Identifies outdated HR practices and recommends modern, efficient alternatives.
- Technology Adoption: Supports the implementation of new HR technologies (e.g., HRIS, digital onboarding).
- Policy Updates: Reviews and updates HR policies to align with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Culture Building: Promotes a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and continuous improvement within the HR team and across the organization.
