About the Role

As an Agency Correctional Dental Hygienist with Cell Staff, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive dental care within the correctional facility. Your primary duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preventative Care: Performing dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planning, fluoride treatments, and other preventative procedures.
  • Oral Assessments: Conducting comprehensive oral assessments to evaluate the oral health status of inmates and accurately documenting findings in their charts.
  • Periodontal Therapy: Administering periodontal therapy, including subgingival scaling, root debridement, and periodontal maintenance procedures.
  • Radiography: Capturing dental radiographs as needed, ensuring proper positioning, and interpreting images to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Patient Education: Providing individualized oral hygiene instructions to inmates, emphasizing proper brushing and flossing techniques, and offering nutritional counseling.
  • Emergency Response: Assisting with dental emergencies within the facility.
  • Collaborative Care: Working closely with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and secure environment.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited educational institution is required.
  • Licensing: A valid and unrestricted Dental Hygienist license in the state where the position is located is a must. The license must be in good standing.
  • Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of relevant Dental Hygienist experience is required.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Resilience: A calm and professional demeanor, with the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
