Recruiting Peer Specialist for Manhattan Psychiatric Center

Manhattan Psychiatric Center (MPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission-accredited facility, is recruiting a Peer Specialist to join their Transition to Home Unit (THU) team. The THU team provides a multi-disciplinary approach to care for individuals who have a history of homelessness. The goals of the THU team are to develop personalized treatment plans for active rehabilitation and reintegration to the community. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with pass days of Saturday/Sunday.

As a Peer Specialist, you will support the recovery and wellness of individuals in the THU. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading peer support groups and lessons based on recovery principles
  • Sharing progress updates with the treatment team
  • Promoting a safe, supportive, and respectful environment
  • Documenting participation and progress in the internal electronic client database
  • Representing the peer perspective in team and facility meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of experience participating in mental health self-help activities, peer support or advocacy programs, or similar organizations.
