JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Global is seeking detail-oriented and motivated Research Assistants to support a major national research initiative focused on children's physical development. These temporary, full-time positions are based onsite in Cincinnati, OH , Columbus, OH, Tampa, FL, Austin, TX and are available for 3-6 months depending on location.

As part of a collaborative Youth Size and Shape (YSS) Project, you will contribute to building a high-resolution, public dataset of youth body dimensions and functional capabilities. This work will directly impact the future design of safer and more effective products for children, including protective equipment, clothing, and medical devices.

  • Data Collection: Assist in structured, protocol-driven measurement of children ages 3–17, including height, weight, physical movement, strength testing, and 3D body scanning.
  • Participant Interaction: Work directly with child participants and their guardians in a welcoming, professional, and ethical manner.
  • Equipment Operation: Set up and operate advanced scanning systems, strength gauges, and other biometric devices; perform basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
  • Data Management: Accurately enter, verify, and securely store measurement data; ensure quality control across all recorded datasets.
  • Team Coordination: Communicate effectively with Humanetics project leads and provide updates on local study progress.
  • Site Oversight: Help guide and assist any additional staff and particpants involved in local data collection sessions.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree or higher in a biological, health, behavioral, or technical field (e.g., Biology, Kinesiology, Public Health, Engineering, Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Nursing, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in research, clinical, educational, or data collection environments.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational habits, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a child-facing environment with frequent hands-on interactions.
  • Proficient with Windows PCs and basic Microsoft Office tools.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S

PREFERRED

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Previous experience working with children in research, education, or healthcare settings.
  • Experience working with biometric measurement devices or motion capture systems.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Prior team leadership or supervisory experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, bending, and equipment setup throughout the day.
  • Comfortable working in a structured, fast-paced research environment.
