The GSOC Manager is responsible for supervising threat detection and reporting, incident response, travel risk management, and protective intelligence workstreams in our 24/7 security operations center. The person in this position aligns daily operations with company standards while managing the team of GSOC analysts working around the clock. Importantly, they work with key internal and external stakeholders on strategic items that align with the company's long-term vision of continued improvement and offering best-in-class GSOC services.
The GSOC Manager must be a highly motivated individual who has experience working in a protective intelligence capacity OR has management experience in a security operations center environment The ideal candidate has strong analytical and writing skills, and is a team player who is able to work hand in hand with a team of subject matter experts drawn from the law enforcement, intelligence, legal and management consulting communities.
This position is in-person and located in midtown Manhattan.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage a team of analysts, providing individualized feedback and support as needed to promote success of the analysts and the wider team.
- Act in a dual capacity as needed, capable of accomplishing the day-to-day operational responsibilities of the analyst role and offering coverage, when needed, while also accomplishing the administrative responsibilities of managing a team of analysts.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of global events, open-source intelligence, and specialized intelligence platforms to identify and mitigate threatening activities against clients' offices, special events, operations, assets, and personnel.
- Act as the initial escalation point for situations of uncertainty and a decision-maker aligned with the operational and business goals of the impacted client(s).
- Provide ongoing intelligence support to the organization's security operations, and accurate tracking of travelers, meetings, and events globally.
- Implement processes for incident and crisis management alongside other key stakeholders and functions.
- Provide ongoing emergency response support in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Execute routine and emergency communications, as directed.
- Maintain the scheduling, achieving 24/7/365 coverage over holidays, sick days, and analyst vacations.
- Maintain a consistent roster of analysts, recruiting to backfill positions for those who are departing the role.
- Explore new tools in the intelligence space and assist in rolling these out to the team when onboarded.
- Work collaboratively to tailor policies and procedures and seek opportunities to improve existing systems.
- Implement and audit training programs for analysts to ensure effective communication for all responsibilities and understanding of any changes to operating procedures.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 4-7 years of experience in GSOC Operations, Intelligence, Investigations/Due Diligence, or Risk Management.
- Experience using proximity alerting and intelligence tools.
- Adept in working and remaining calm in a fast-paced environment; ability to quickly shuffle priorities in accordance with changing demands.
- Deep understanding and passion for breaking news, geopolitical events, global affairs, and risk issues.
- Excellent written communications skills, with close proofreading and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrated trustworthiness with confidential information.
Qualified candidates will be required to provide a writing sample and complete a proofreading assessment. A non-disclosure agreement and background check will also be required for employment.
